January 14, 2010 Lionfish feast! After the Scheller Tribe finished bringing in their Underwater Safari, Divemaster Richard showed them how to clean the fish safely so they could cook them. They were delicious!
May 26, 2009 Today was a new adventure in that the divers got to go looking for Lion fish and were able to net three. Average size was 9 “. They found a really baby Lion fish too. Jodi, our Environmental Science officer recorded the find, measured and then actually dissected to see what they are eating. Found lots of baby Juvenile fish, shrimp inside them. Richard them cleaned them and we had a gourmet feast. Ok, not a feast, but a Lion fish tasting and they were quite tender. Special thanks to Jodi, Rich, our Dive master and to Joe, Smitty, Sharon and Jim diving guests down assisting us. Come on down and join us for our next “HUNT” May 27, 2009 Went out diving today and saw a 10 ft Hammerhead. He circled us several times, then went off on his merry way. Quite exciting. This is early Hammerheads, just like it was early for the Mantas. The plankton is not blooming, but the water is warming up to 80 degrees and rising. Great to get in the water again.
